I want to die in a vat of this barbecue sauce.
We make a lot of ribs. A lot of ribs. That being what it is, I'm not interested in using the same rib recipe over...and over...and over. Boring. So when Mike said he was making ribs again this weekend, I cut in with Oooh I know! CHERRY BBQ SAUCE!
Wow. These beef ribs are absolutely spectacular. The cherry jalapeno sauce is unlike anything I've ever had before. It's sweet (my favorite) and spicy (Mike's favorite) and probably also really tasty on way more than just ribs. Though not just ribs, because beef ribs are the reason the sun shines. Didn't you know?
Smoked Beef Ribs with Cherry Jalapeno BBQ Sauce
To make the BBQ sauce: In a pot over medium heat, add orange juice and remaining ingredients (excluding ribs). Bring to a boil; reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Pour sauce into a blender and blend; return to pot and continue to simmer until it reaches the thick consistency of BBQ sauce, 10-20 minutes.
To cook the ribs: Preheat Big Green Egg smoker (or equivalent) to 300F.
Season ribs with salt and pepper. Smoke on the Big Green Egg smoker (or equivalent) at 300F for 4 hours.
Lather ribs with 1/2 cup of the BBQ sauce; let smoke for another 5-10 minutes.
Serve immediately with remaining sauce.
And since your smoker's already hot and ready...
